Heaven is in your Mind

As of late, I've been indulging in some classic cinema from the 50's & 60's -
re-watching some of my favorites and discovering a few that I meant to watch,
but somehow let them pass me by.

This past weekend, I stumbled upon a Douglas Sirk classic titled
All That Heaven Allows.  It was a brilliant film with a poignant message.
A nice reminder, if you must, of how essential it is to always be true to yourself.
Because, sometimes it's necessary to defy convention, in order to obtain
complete happiness.  We all have a legacy, and it's up to the individual to
create it - even if it means going against the societal norm.

I think the defining moment of the film and in life is whether or not you actually
have the courage to forge ahead, through the opposition, to become the person
you want to be.  Unfortunately, you can never truly know how you will behave
until you are in the moment, faced with the decision of choosing - them or me.
